Community Guidelines

Version 1.0, last updated November 4, 2026.

These guidelines explain what you may and may not post in the Drone Forecast community, how to report violations, what moderation does, and what consequences apply. By continuing to use the community, you agree to these guidelines as well as the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.

1. What the community is for

The Drone Forecast community helps drone pilots find safe and legal places to fly and keeps information about them up to date. Members add spots (FlySpots), publish photos, rate places, verify details, and report on-site conditions.

Our principles:

  • Safety first;
  • Legality — post only what does not violate flight rules or other people's rights;
  • Respect — for pilots, people, and property;
  • Accuracy — share only verified information.

2. General prohibitions: zero tolerance

The following is prohibited in spot names, notes, tags, descriptions, names and @usernames, avatars, photos, and report comments:

  • insults, bullying, threats; discrimination based on race, nationality, religion, gender, orientation, or disability;
  • sexual, violent, or shocking content; calls for violence or self-harm;
  • impersonating another person or organization; misleading names and avatars;
  • other people's personal data (addresses, phone numbers, faces, license plates) and doxxing;
  • spam, advertising, links to third-party resources, commercial offers; unnecessary duplicate spots (exception: the "service center" spot type for real drone service centers, without promotional content);
  • malicious content, hacking attempts, automated data collection (scraping), bypassing the app's technical limits;
  • fake ratings, votes, and reports; reputation manipulation, multiple accounts for manipulation, ban evasion.

Such content is removed, and the violator's account is blocked.

3. Rules for flight spots

You must not create spots or give advice:

  • In no-fly and restricted zones — near airports, airfields, and helipads, on takeoff and landing paths (except legal model aircraft airfields with access conditions specified);
  • Near and above protected facilities — prisons, military and government sites, nuclear and energy facilities, borders, embassies;
  • On private property without the owner's permission. Mark the access type honestly; never mark a closed spot as public;
  • Over people and crowds, in places with serious risk (railway tracks, power lines, etc.). A spot with dangerous features is only allowed with an explicit warning;
  • Dangerous maneuvers and bypassing restrictions — advice on "how to bypass geofences", disabling firmware limits, night flights and BVLOS flights without permission, flying over crowds;
  • Geotags of other people's homes — do not place a pin on someone's yard, windows, or closed property, and do not include the exact address of a private home in the spot name;
  • False information — claiming a spot is "safe/permitted" when it is not; wrong access type; presenting a defunct spot as active.

Important: community data is not an authorization to fly. A "verified" spot status does not mean flying is allowed: airspace status is determined by official zones, not by user votes. Before flying, you must check local laws and restrictions yourself and obtain any required permits.

4. Photo requirements

  • Upload only your own photos or photos you have the rights to. Other people's, stock, or copyrighted images are prohibited.
  • Photos must not contain people (faces, children), license plates, documents, screens, windows or inner yards of other people's homes, or protected facilities.
  • No offensive, explicit, or shocking content; no advertising.
  • A photo must show the place: takeoff area, view, access, parking, or a hazard warning. Your avatar may show you, but only you.
  • Formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, up to 12 MB.
  • Spot photos appear in the gallery after moderator approval. Avatars are visible immediately and reviewed afterwards; a violating avatar will be removed. The number of photos per spot is limited.

5. Ratings, verification, and profile

  • Ratings 1–5: rate honestly and only places you know. You must not rate or verify your own spots, inflate ratings, or change a rating for a reward or under pressure.
  • Verification: answer only if you know the answer ("don't know" is a valid answer). Notes (up to 500 characters) must be on topic, without insults or personal data.
  • "I've been here" check-ins — only for places you have actually visited.
  • Profile: name and @username without insults or advertising, without other people's names or trademarks. Your @username is public; the initial handle is generated automatically from your name — if you do not want to show your real name, change it in your profile.
  • Duplicates: before creating a spot, the app suggests checking existing spots nearby — use this and do not create unnecessary duplicates.
  • Names and tags: neutral and descriptive; no advertising, private home addresses, or insults.

6. How publishing and moderation work

  • New spots do not appear on the map immediately: they become visible after confirmation by community votes (without prior moderator review).
  • Edits to existing spots take effect after moderator approval.
  • Spot photos are published after approval; avatars are reviewed after publication.
  • Reports go to the moderation queue; a moderator makes the decision.
  • Moderation may: keep content; hide or archive a spot; reject or remove a photo; reject an edit; remove a verification or report; lower reputation; block an account (temporarily or permanently, with a stated reason); or delete an account.
  • When blocked, the app shows a banner with the reason and, for a temporary block, the end date. A blocked account can browse and save spots but cannot add spots, photos, ratings, check-ins, edits, or reports. A temporary block lifts automatically.

7. How to report

In the app (account sign-in required):

  • Spot: spot screen → "Report" → choose a reason → optionally add a comment → "Submit";
  • Photo: photo menu → "Report Photo";
  • Pilot profile: profile screen → "Report".

Report reasons: spam; incorrect information; dangerous location; illegal activity or no-fly zone; duplicate; offensive content; private property; location closed or unavailable; inappropriate photo; other.

You can report the same object only once. Guests cannot send reports from the app — please email us instead.

Without the app: email [email protected] — include the spot name or @username, attach a link or screenshot, and describe the issue. For reports about ratings, notes, and condition reports (not available in the app), please also use email.

We review reports as quickly as possible. A separate notification about the decision is not sent.

8. Appealing decisions

If you disagree with a moderation decision (content hidden, reputation lowered, account blocked), email [email protected]: include your @username, the decision in question, and why you believe it is wrong. We will review the decision. The block reason is always shown in the app.

9. Violations and consequences

Depending on the violation, we may: remove or hide content; lower reputation; temporarily block the account; block it permanently; or delete the account. For serious violations (threats, illegal content, repeated violations, ban evasion), the account is blocked immediately, without warning.

A blocked user cannot delete their account while the block is in effect — please contact support. Where required by law, we may report violations to the competent authorities.

10. What the app does not have

  • A user cannot block another user themselves. If a pilot violates the rules — report them; blocking is applied by moderation.
  • The community has no private messages or text comments between pilots.
  • There is no pre-moderation of all new spots — the community relies on members' honesty and subsequent review.

11. Deleting content and account

  • A rating can be removed or changed; a verification vote can be deleted. An avatar can be replaced in the profile.
  • A published spot photo cannot be deleted in the app — please contact support.
  • Account deletion: Profile (or Settings → Account) → "Delete Account", confirmed by signing in again. Deletion is irreversible.
  • After account deletion, the profile, name, avatar, saved spots, and photos pending review are deleted. Spots, published photos, ratings, check-ins, verifications, and reports remain in the community in anonymized form.
  • Blocked accounts are deleted via support.
